The City of Bratislava will join the session “Resilience Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction for the Unexpected” to share its experiences in increasing urban resilience and addressing climatic threats to cultural heritage. The online session is organised as part of Daring Cities and will take place on 9 October at 19:00 CET.

Daring Cities is the global virtual forum for urban leaders boldly tackling the climate emergency, especially in light of COVID-19. Running from 7 to 28 October 2020, Daring Cities features ambitious global action in a variety of time zones, languages, and formats.

The session “Resilience Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction for the Unexpected” will focus on how cities can better prepare themselves for emergencies. The session will present cases of cities addressing multiple disasters, prioritizing resilience in their master and sector-specific plans, as well as opportunities for support to cities in planning for urban resilience.

ARCH city partner Bratislava faces prolonged periods of heatwaves and droughts intermitted with intensive rainfall. During the session, the City will share its experience in adopting proper disaster risk management procedures while seeking resilience options to restore its cultural heritage and increase the resilience of its monument reserve in the city´s centre.
